Our cryogenic labels are intended for use with automated thermal-transfer print-and-apply systems for vials, tubes, and microplates, and are designed to withstand long-term storage in liquid nitrogen (-196°C), lab freezers, and dry ice transport.
Labs can use a 32gal. red lidded cart to house cardboard lab glass box for ease of transport. (loose lab glass cannot be placed in red lidded cart) Place appropriate unwanted lab glass in the cardboard lab glass box. Package nonhazardous lab glass and plastic waste items in sturdy cardboard boxes. Use any sturdy box as long as it will not weigh more than 25 pounds when full. Label boxes with PI name and room number, and seal with “Laboratory Glass” tape. Or seal the box with tape, and clearly label as “Laboratory Glass.”

For glass vials, options include screw vials (closed with a screw cap or dropper/pipette), lip vials (closed with a cork or plastic stopper) and crimp vials (closed with a rubber stopper and a metal cap). Plastic vials, which can be moulded in plastic, can have other closure systems, such as 'hinge caps' which snap shut when pressed.

Apr 29, 2020 · Do NOT use a bag displaying the biohazard or radiation hazard symbol. Deface all reused cardboard boxes. The box should not weigh more than 40 pounds. Securely seal the box with tape.
